Anyone who values Cameroonian art will absolutely applaud Ambe Tebong Neba for his diligence, worksomeness, perseverance and his laborious or toilsome efforts to be where he is today. He has strived relentlessly all these years and had bagged a wonderful deal with TECNO (Telephone company) last year as ambassador before Nabila could take over from him. This is success and growth.
What consolidated this rapid growth was his song “Vitesse” which had surfaced in 2017 that got every Cameroonian hooked. After releasing his vitesse song Cameroonians termed it copy work as he was given the nickname copy cat. He was accused of copying from a Ghanian musician called patapaa who did this song titled “One Corner” featuring Ras Cann and Mr Loyalty. The concept were the same, and it got some music enthusiasts to the conclusion that Ambe is going off creativity.
It has come to the notice of showbiz lovers that Ambe is currently busy on Instagram downloading Olamide’s videos and promoting his upcoming single titled “Valide” . Everyone is pondering as to why Ambe will be doing this after when he outrightly made a tweet endorsing Daphne to be bigger artist than Burna Boy. This tweet came in just when Orange Cameroon had announced the coming of Burna Boy to Cameroon for her end of year grand concert this December . However, Ambe is still the same person downloading videos of the “Powon” challenge of Olamide, a Nigerian and promoting his single valide. One is left to ask if Ambe is envying the Nigerian market or he simply enjoys Olamide’s promotion strategy and wants to employ it. After saying Daphne is bigger in Cameroon than Burna Boy now he’s copying olamide. It is okay to be open minded , to imitate and innovate but when it becomes pronounced it becomes the main talk of the day. See screenshot of the downloaded videos on Ambe’s Instagram account here .
The legal system denounces acts of plagiarism especially when you download someone’s work without his prior notice. May be perhaps, in the artistic world legal and illegal issues do not really count but it is imperative to take precautions to be free from any inconveniences that might surface. We wish him well in his promotion though he had announced his quit from music . What do you think of the song Valide?
