The Buea technological community officially kown as ‘Silicon Mountain’ held a conference today the 18th of June 2016 at Chariot hotel in Buea.the theme of this year;s conference was ‘Think global, build local’. It was actually interesting with all the hightech guys explaining what i normally see as over complicated 1’s and 0’s in basic English Language for the understanding of everybody.It was very enriching and educative.
Every year the conference attracts creatives, programmers and community organizers from Cameroon to the Mount Fako area for a day of code labs, workshops, and sessions of inspiration and fun. The event started with interesting keynote addresses from Africa’s Digital Leaders such as;
After the keynotes,we were treated to inspirational workshop sessions and presentations on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) – related topics, Design, and Community Management.
There were companies like woman Mozilla, njorku, makonjo media,active spaces and many others who presented their products and services to anybody who was interested.[i personally got to hear of skademy.com where i could get online classes on digital marketing,web design and others and all pf that for Free!!]. Information is key.
Oh and yes there were loads of cool stickers for everyone. technology too could be fun. It is organised every year so be sure to mark your calender for next year i have already marked mine. Great to see young Cameroonians stepping up and being productive. kudos to the silicon mountain team.
